The Grosvenor House - Park Room

Grosvenor House, a classic London heritage hotel, is a 5 star luxury hotel in the Mayfair area of London and owned by the Sahara Group. The hotel oozes grandeur and goes by the epithet ‘Grand Dame’ of Park Lane, and presents an essentially British experience. Grosvenor House was built in the 1920s and opened in 1929 on the site of Grosvenor House, the former London residence of the Dukes of Westminster, whose family name is Grosvenor. It was the first hotel in London at that time to have a separate bathroom and entrance lobby for each bedroom, and running iced water in every bathroom. When the hotel first opened, it was also the headquarters of the International Sportsmen’s Club and provided Turkish baths, a swimming pool, squash courts and a gymnasium as amenities. The hotel combines modern luxury, including free Wi-Fi throughout, with unique period features. Its décor is a delightful mix of Victorian architecture coupled with modernity.
Ever since its inception, the hotel has housed many an august persona of the twentieth century including posthumous individuals like General Eisenhower and General Patton. The hotel also boasts of one of the largest ball rooms in Europe. The hotel recently underwent a 4-year renovation and restoration costing £142 million, and reopened in 2008.
Afternoon tea at Grosvenor House is hosted in the ‘Park Room and Library’ a regal room with large comfortable sofas, elegant flower displays and live piano entertainment. Overlooking Hyde Park, it is one of the most elegant venues in London.
