The UK Tea Council, an independent non-profit making body in its 27th year dedicated to promoting tea and its unique story for the benefit of those who produce, sell and enjoy tea, anonymously visits each year hundreds of tea venues across Britain and only awards the crème de la crème. The Tea Guild Awards are considered the ‘Oscars’ of the tea world, with world-famous hotels and tea rooms competing for the highly coveted honor. With so much already happening this year in London including the 2012 Olympics and HM The Queen Diamond Jubilee, 21 tea venues won the prestigious Tea Guild Awards of Excellence in London. That is certainly worth a celebration in itself!

The best place in London to enjoy a sumptuous afternoon tea has been named as The Athenaeum Hotel, which has scooped The Tea Guild's prestigious award for the capital for "Top London Afternoon Tea 2012"

"The judges praised it for its tasteful intimate style and fine furnishings, friendly and efficient staff, and excellent selection of scones, sandwiches and cakes. When it came to the tea itself, once again The Athenaeum Hotel surpassed expectations with an excellent selection of teas and knowledgeable staff that excelled firstly in advising customers on the choice of tea blends on offer and then serving those teas perfectly". The judges concluded that The Athenaeum Hotel offered "a very enjoyable and relaxing tea experience in splendid surroundings."

How do I book a table for Afternoon Tea?

You may complete the online booking request form or contact us on 020 8680 3001. We will come back to you shortly after with either a confirmation or a list of available alternative dates/venues should your first choice not be available.

What do i need to make a booking?

You will need to provide your credit card details when a request is submitted. (Please note your card will only be charged if the booking is confirmed. The charge would be made at the time of confirmation). Your name and contact details, including address, telephone number and email, will also be required.

How far in advance should i book?

For The Ritz in particular booking in advance is a must. For weekdays the booking period is approximately four weeks ahead. For weekends the booking period is approximately three to five months ahead. Other venues usually have more availability, although it is advisable to book at least 2 weeks in advance to avoid disappointment.

What are the timings for Afternoon Tea?

Each venue has different timings, please use our booking box on the left side of the page. Once a venue is selected, along with the date required, the timings will appear.

Is there a dress code?

Formal dress should be worn when visiting The Ritz London for Afternoon Tea. Gentlemen are requested to wear a jacket and tie when using The Palm Court. Jeans and training shoes are not permitted. Other venues do not have a strict dress code in place, although similar guidelines to The Ritz (smart/casual) are recommended.

How much is Afternoon Tea?

Each venue and package differs in price. All prices are shown for each package on our info pages: all package prices are per person and payable at the venue. Please note some venues will charge an additional service charge. Payment will be required on arrival, or in advance if the booking made is for 5 or more persons.

How much do you charge for booking?

Book-Afternoon-Tea charges a non-refundable booking fee per booking, only if it is confirmed (the exact booking fee is displayed on each package information page).

What if i want to cancel?

For bookings for less than 6 persons: cancellations made within 72 hours prior to the reservation date, or non-arrivals, will be charged in full on the guarantee card.

For bookings for 6 persons or more: cancellations made within 1 week prior to the reservation date, or non-arrivals, will be charged in full on the guarantee card (please note that some venues will charge the total amount due 1 week prior to the reservation date for parties of 6 or more).
